Cloud9 loses partner status and clears house: What does it mean for the team heading into 2027?
Cloud9 released three players and lost partner status for the 2027 season following a weak 2026. With only two players under contract, the team's competitive future in the VALORANT ecosystem remains unresolved.

Cloud9's VALORANT division finds itself in a significantly weaker position than just a year ago. On November 2, 2026, the organization announced the release of Jordan "Zellsis" Montemurro, Francis "OXY" Hoang, and Jack "Jackk" Foote — while simultaneously signing Conner "GLYPH" Garcia as the first new piece of a 2027 roster that is still far from complete.
The direct cause of the shake-up is that Riot did not select Cloud9 as a partner organization for the upcoming season. This is a crucial distinction from teams that retain partner status and with it a secured spot in the VCT structure. Cloud9 must now navigate a competitive environment without the institutional stability that the partnership previously provided.
The 2026 results support the decision. The team finished in sixth place at Kickoff and went 1-4 in Stage 1's group stage, before being eliminated with a 1-2 record in Stage 2's play-ins. Zellsis, who returned to Cloud9 in October 2025 as in-game leader for his second stint, is now leaving the team again. OXY has already moved on to Sentinels, while Jackk was granted restricted free agent status with the ability to seek offers elsewhere.
Remaining are Cameron "FireBallOps" Tomaselli and GLYPH as the only registered players, with Ian "Immi" Harding as assistant coach. GLYPH spent the first half of 2026 with Gentle Mates in EMEA — where the team reached second place at EMEA Kickoff and top eight at Masters Santiago — and spent the second half with ENVY.
With two players on the roster and no further signings announced as of November 4, 2026, Cloud9's competitive foundation for 2027 remains highly uncertain. Without partner status and with half a roster, the road back to the top of Americas is a long one.
