G2 and MKOI meet in Nice for the LEC Summer 2026 title
LEC Summer 2026 will be decided on Saturday, 20 September, when G2 Esports and Movistar KOI meet in a best-of-five grand final at Palais Nikaia in Nice. The regional title is what is at stake — and only that.
Both teams have already secured their spots at the League of Legends World Championship 2026, as has Karmine Corp in third place. The final therefore does not determine Worlds participation, but solely who lifts the European championship trophy for the summer season.
Two very different roads to the final
The two finalists have reached the same destination via markedly different routes. G2 completed the playoffs with maximum efficiency: a 3-0 victory over Team Vitality followed by a 3-1 victory over Karmine Corp. That earned them direct access to the final, and the team has not played an official LEC match since 6 September.
MKOI's road has been far more demanding. The team ended the regular season with five losses and only barely made it into the playoff field. From there they fought their way through three consecutive elimination matches: a 3-2 victory over Vitality on 12 September, a 3-1 victory over NAVI, and finally a 3-0 victory over Karmine Corp — a team that had finished the regular season without a single loss.
What is at stake
With the Worlds tickets already distributed, the final is solely about regional prestige. For G2, a victory would confirm the team's position at the top of European League of Legends after an uneven regular season in which they lost to Karmine Corp, Fnatic, and GIANTX. For MKOI, the title would mark a remarkable turnaround from a shaky regular season to the European championship.
The playoffs have run from 5 September with matches spread across Madrid, Berlin, and Nice. The grand final is the tournament's closing event, before the three European Worlds representatives — G2, MKOI, and Karmine Corp — prepare for the LoL World Championship, which runs from 15 October to 14 November in the United States.
