FaZe have secured a spot in Roman Imperium Cup IX, which takes place from October 7 to 10 in Portugal. The entry is not without risk: the team finds itself in a pressured situation in the race to qualify for PGL Major Singapore.
According to VRS expert MischiefCS2, FaZe's probability of Major qualification was below 50 percent before the team entered the tournament. Weak performances at Esports World Cup 2026 and FISSURE Playground #3, combined with strong results from HEROIC and Luminosity at Stake Pulse Beat II and Logitech G Play Connect 2026 respectively, had cost FaZe crucial points. Simply by entering Roman Imperium Cup IX – and with the expectation that the team performs well – the probability has risen to 70 percent according to MischiefCS2's latest forecast.
The potential reward is therefore significant, but the strategy is not without weaknesses. The tournament is classified as tier three with a prize pool of €12,000, and the field is dominated by academy teams from tier-one organisations, smaller European stacks, and Portuguese teams. FaZe are ranked 14th on HLTV's unofficial live VRS, while the second-highest ranked team in the field, INFINITE, sits in 73rd place. The pressure to deliver is therefore enormous: a disappointing exit in a weak tournament will not only cost points, but also highlight the team's current form crisis at the worst possible moment.
With JBOEN as the team's Danish representative, FaZe line up against 15 other teams, including EAC, G2 Ares, Falcons Force, and OG. The tournament is effectively FaZe's best – and perhaps last – opportunity to secure the necessary VRS point buffer before the Major qualification is decided.
