Linx Legacy is well-positioned to qualify for the LAN finals in the Esportligaen, even though the team has faced challenges throughout the season. This is according to the team's ingame leader Mathias 'Escalera' Nielsen in an interview with Inuit Streamerum.
The 29-year-old IGL acknowledges that the team has had a turbulent season with many losses on Dust2, and that they have not been able to field their full lineup. Instead, Linx Legacy has had to play with an Academy player in the Esportligaen and uses depression as a stand-in on Dust2.
"We might be playing a bit beyond expectations in terms of how we just like... I think we are positioned to potentially make it to those LAN finals and move forward," says Escalera.
Surprisingly, the team actually functions better with stand-ins than with their normal lineup, which Escalera attributes to personality mismatches among the original players. "Fortunately, it seems, so far, that we are better with stand-ins than we are with the team that I myself set. There have probably been some personality mismatches among players that I hadn't seen or taken into account," explains the experienced IGL.
With stand-ins, the team experiences less pressure and better communication, where players can "speak straight up to each other" without irritations. Linx Legacy is facing crucial matches in the coming week, where they need to secure a spot in the playoffs. Escalera is optimistic and believes in a 3-0 victory in their next match.
"If we hit our shots and just avoid making too many mistakes, in terms of us being a mix, then I actually think we can go out with a 3-0 today," he says.
As for the tactics, Linx Legacy keeps it simple:
"I don't really know other than just clicking W and hitting the head. That's how we play."
With the crucial matches just around the corner, it will be exciting to see if Linx Legacy can maintain their surprisingly good form and secure a spot in the LAN finals in the Esportligaen.
