15-year-old Alexander 'Slexa' from Ølgod Efterskole has made a name for himself as an AWPer on one of the most interesting teams in Danish Counter-Strike 2. As the only boarding school team in the elite division, Ølgod Efterskole has proven that they are not just there for fun.
Life as an esports student
For Slexa, the combination of boarding school and esports is a unique opportunity for constant development alongside his teammates.
"I think it's really great because you're almost with them all the time. In all breaks, you can sit down with them and go through something if you need to. You can just grab them instead of waiting for them to come online," explains the 15-year-old AWPer.
The close contact has created strong friendships and a good dynamic on the team, where the players both live and train together around the clock.
Only boarding school team in the elite
Ølgod Efterskole stands out significantly as the only boarding school team in both the elite division and the first division. For Slexa, it's a chance to prove the team's seriousness. "
It's great to show the name and show that we can actually play CS, instead of just coming over to have fun. We take it seriously when we play," he emphasizes.
Facing Denmark's best teams provides valuable experience and develops the players faster than if they were playing at a lower level.
Focus on development
Although the team won't reach the finals this season, Slexa remains positive about the future. The goal for the remaining matches is clear:
"We want to develop and get as much out of the matches as possible, and just have fun. We see it as an opportunity to gain experience against some slightly better teams and see how we fare against them."
When asked if Ølgod Efterskole will return next year, the answer is unequivocal:
"I think you can count on that."
Ølgod Efterskole's journey in the elite division shows that esports at the boarding school level can compete at the highest level, and with Slexa as one of the profiles, the future looks promising for the ambitious project.
